Foundation Learning for Schools
Since September 2002, students inYears 10 and 11 have been able to study courses at Mid Cheshire College, alongside their GCSEs.
The range of courses available includes:
- Hair & Beauty
- Engineering & Motor Vehicle
Schools that have taken part in the programme include:
- Hartford High School
- Knutsford Academy
- Middlewich High School
- Tarporley High School
- The County High School, Leftwich
- Weaverham High School
Students in Year 10 attend on Wednesday mornings, whilst Year 11s attend on Thursday mornings.
All courses are based at the Hartford Campus.
Pupils enjoy the ‘grown up’ atmosphere of College and are able to use the outstanding facilities on the two sites. They are taught by highly qualified expert staff with industrial experience.
All courses involve both theory and practical work and feature ‘live’ briefs.
Recruitment onto the programme is through the schools. Year 9 pupils complete an application form, are interviewed and attend a taster session during the summer term.
This project has been outstandingly successful with the vast majority of students going on to Further Education or apprenticeships.
