Functional Skills: Undertaking additional level 2 maths, English & ICT classes may be required if candidate does not hold A-C

Additional Requirements: Must have been an EU resident for the past 3 years.  Must not already hold a degree or Level 4 qualification.

 

Employer Job Description:

In your role as Receptionist, your main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Answer the telephone in a timely manner as required.
  • Deal with general queries and enquiries from patients at the desk in a polite and competent manner.
  • Make appointments for patients attending the reception desk for both Doctors and Nurses.
  • Prepare the reception for morning/afternoon staff – alter door notices etc.
  • Ensure waiting room is tidy for am and pm sessions.
  • Receive and check orders over the reception.
  • Hand out appointment questionnaires to patients as required.
  • Check paperwork for new patients registering.
  • Photocopying
  • Tasks are sent to reception staff throughout the day and need to be actioned.
  • Docman has to be logged onto and checked daily.
  • Making appointments for specialised clinics, I.e. six week baby/postnatal checks, ladies clinics, joint injection clinics, etc.
  • Prescriptions – date stamp all prescriptions, empty prescription box, and then send upstairs in appropriate folder at the end of each session.
  • File all signed prescriptions correctly alphabetically.
  • Deal with patients attending to collect prescriptions in a polite manner/ and pharmacy’s collecting prescriptions.
  • Ensure work area and storage area is tidy and well stocked.
  • Handle money for private letters/insurances from patients following protocols.
  • Opening of the surgery – switching alarm off (when required and when trained/activate interactive client.
  • Closure of the surgery during the lunch time period (12.30-1.15pm)
  • Closure of the surgery premises at the end of the day, ensuring all rooms are checked for:
  • – Safety/security/lights
  • – Computer and printer closedown
  • – Doors – both internally and externally
  • – Windows – all rooms checked to ensure secure
  • – Deactivate interactive client (telephone)
  • – Setting the surgery alarm – when required and when trained.
  • General administrative work
  • Opening of the post on a daily basis and distributing.
  • Scanning
  • Filing/retrieval of patient records and keeping them in good order.
  • Take accurate details of home visit requests from patients and retrieving medical records/computer print-out
