What is the programme structure?
Students will study the following eight units:
Monitor procedures to safely control work operations, contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities, provide body massage treatments, provide Indian head massage, carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils, provide stone therapy treatments, and provide facial electrical treatments including micro-dermabrasion.
At times, all students will be expected to introduce new clients to the salon in order to help with practical assessments.

This programme is designed for students with a keen interest in working as a Beauty Therapist or for the mature student wanting to train for a new career in Beauty Therapy.
How long does it take to complete?
1 year, 2 days/evening per week

Successful completion of a Level 2 qualification in Beauty
What does it include?
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
A beauty salon and wet area fitted with some of the latest equipment, which is open to the public from November to June.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Appropriate dress, including footwear, will be required. Learners will have the opportunity to purchase or loan equipment and textbooks as per the specific requirements of the course area. Optional workshops / educational visits / practical activities are charged at cost.
How is the programme assessed?
Assessment is through formal written examinations, practical observation and written assignments. Several hours of homework both written and practical are required each week. All final work must be submitted in a portfolio of evidence.
What award will I achieve?
NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy (Massage route)
What can I do next?
On successful completion of this course you will be able to progress into employment in spas, salons, cruise ships or self employment, alternatively you may like to progress on to a Level 4 qualification in Salon Management.
