Beauty Therapy Studies Diploma QCF Level 2 (Fast-Track)
What is the programme structure?
This programme includes the following mandatory units:
Health and safety; client care and communication; provide facial skincare; remove hair using waxing techniques; provide eyelash and brow treatment; provide manicure treatments; provide pedicure treatments.
Optional units include:
Display stock to promote sales in a salon; instruction on make-up application.
Who is the programme for?
This programme is aimed towards mature learners, who are self motivated and enthusiastic. It is an ideal choice for those wishing to learn a new vocation and progress further in Beauty Therapy industry.
How long does it take to complete?
This programme runs 1 day per week over 1 academic year.
What qualifications do I need?
A good understanding of written and verbal English is essential. Students are expected to have a good standard of personal presentation and hygiene. Strict uniform and jewellery policies are enforced in this area. Students must also be aware that in order to learn the treatments they must be willing to undertake all of the treatments themselves, e.g. bikini waxing, facial and pedicure. At times, all students will be expected to introduce new clients to the salon in order to help with practical assessments.
What does it include?
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
The special facilities will include a well-equipped beauty salon fitted with the most up to date equipment and professional products such as Dermalogica. The salon is open to the public from late November to June and will include special events such as Mothers Day, Valentine’s Day and Special Holiday Packages.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Students will be expected to purchase a beauty therapy kit approximately £20.00. A specified uniform must also be purchased appx £40.00. Details of this will be given on enrolment. There are also a range of additional certificates some of which are a compulsory part of the qualification: Dermalogica skin care– approx £20; tanning £25; lockers (optional) £10; USB £5; text books (desirable)£24.
How is the programme assessed?
This programme will be assessed in a real working environment. Your knowledge will be checked through oral and written questions, assignments, exam papers and formal observations. Students will carry out assessments on clients during the commercial salon environment from late November to June.

VTCT- Vocational Training Charitable Trust.
What can I do next?
You can progress onto Level 3 Beauty Therapy in one of the following pathways- Fashion & Photographic Make-up, Nail Services, Spa Therapy or Complementary Therapies.
