What is the programme structure?

You will be shown the basic and more advanced techniques of cake decorating with group and 1 to 1 tuition.

Who is the programme for?

This course is a chance to learn the basic skills required to produce decorations for celebration cakes, including birthdays and weddings.

How long does it take to complete?
The course runs for 2 hours per week/termly.

What qualifications do I need?

No previous qualifications required.

What does it include?

The tutor will give demonsatrations and you will then have chance to achieve the following: using your own home baked or shop bought fruit or sponge cake you will be shown how to cover the cake with sugar paste and how to constuct your own 3d marzipan and sugar paste figures. Included in the sessions there will be the opportunity to learn how to do lettering and painting on icing and piping. Included there is a chance to learn lace piping and the basic techniques to produce sugar flowers.

Held within a kitchen eviroment

Will there be any extra costs involved?

You will be required to pay £6.00 to cover the tutor demonstations. You will also need to provide the ingredients on a weekly basis such as baking or purchasing your own cake, icing sugar and sugar paste. You will also be required to purchase or bring basic equipment such as cake board, rolling pin and sugar paste craft tools. You tutor will advise you of these at the first lesson. Please bring your own apron, tea towel, box for carrying your cake and paper towels.

Tutor assessment. No formal exam.
