What is the programme structure?

To develop and broaden learners overall creative glass skills using a broader range of creative methods.

Two methods will be demonstrated: ‘cold’ working which involves making leaded panels, foil work and sandblasting and ‘hot’ working involving use of the glass kiln for making textured panels and fusing.

Each learner could produce a small foiled panel using their own design using the copper foil method of joining glass pieces together or continue to work on their own projects using:
Design and produce a sand blasted panel.
Design and make a slumped and fused glass flower using the kiln. This will combine your glass cutting skills and the new hot glass skills of fusing and slumping.

Tools required:
As far as possible all necessary tools will be provided albeit that some may have to be shared. However, each student should bring with them:
1. Black pen with fine point (permanent marker for marking on glass).
2. Pair of pliers with wide nose (the wider the better).
3. 12 inch ruler.
4. Stanley knife with new blade.

Who is the programme for?

A combination of stained glass and kiln glass fusion to learners to learn the skills, techniques and use of tools to cut glass to make a traditional stained glass panel. Learners who have attended previously or who are advanced in either stained glass or glass fusion are welcome to join this course and continue work on their specialist area or take part in learning one of the new skills on offer.
