What is the programme structure?
- Prepare for and provide Body massage
- Provide Aromatherapy techniques
- Prepare for and provide Reflexology techniques
- Principles and practice of complementary therapies
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology
- Business practice for complementary therapies
Who is the programme for?
This programme is designed for adults who have an interest in Complementary Therapy treatments. This is an ideal course for those who may be returning to education or wishing to undertake a new vocation, or to progress further within the Beauty Industry. Commitment is essential along with good communication skills.
How long does it take to complete?
2 days per week over one academic year, approximately 9.10am - 4.30pm
What qualifications do I need?
A good understanding of English is essential. Applicants must have a strong interest in working in the Holistic health industry. Good communication skills and personal presentation are also essential. Commitment is necessary.
What does it include?
At times, all students will be expected to introduce new clients to the salon in order to help with practical assessments.
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
A beauty salon and wet area fitted with some of the latest equipment, which is open to the public from November to June.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Students will be expected to purchase the specified uniform (approx. £60.00) and black enclosed flat shoes. Students will also need to purchase aromatherapy oils and a selected kit. It is essential that you possess or purchase a therapy couch to enable you to practice and carry out your case studies.
How is the programme assessed?
Assessment is through formal written examinations, practical observation and written assignments. Several hours of homework (practical & written) is required per week.

What can I do next?
You can enter into employment in salons, hotels, health spas, airlines, cruise ships or self-employment. Alternatively, you may wish to study another course in Beauty Therapy.
