English Language GCSE
What is the programme structure?
Three hour lecture a week from September to June. Students should also spend at least 4 hours a week studying independently. Exam dates are set by AQA alongside school exams. 2017 exam dates are 7th June and 10th June. There is also a coursework project with a deadline of 7th May.
Who is the programme for?
Aimed at student who wish to improve to Grade C in English.
How long does it take to complete?
The course is 1 year, Sept to June.
What qualifications do I need?
Students will be required to attend an initial assessment and informal discussion prior to enrolment to discuss the suitability of the course.
What does it include?
This programme will enable students to study many aspects of written English, reading skills and, speaking and listening. Lessons will be tutor delivered and will include one to one feedback.
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Learners are expected to provide their own stationary. Some learners may choose to purchase their own AQA study guides. Information will be provided on these byt the tutor.
How is the programme assessed?
The programme is assessed by two external examinations in June and a coursework project. There are no opportunities for resits of failed exams. Ongoing class assessment will be provided by the tutor and half termly class assessments will take place.

iGCSE English can be used to help students secure employment or gain access to further or higher education.
