What is the programme structure?
This is a beginners course to introduce students to the basics of digital photography. Students will learn the basics about composing photographs, using a digital camera and camera settings, lighting and different types of photography such as location and portraiture. They will also learn about basic photo manipulation techniques.
Who is the programme for?
This is a beginners course aimed at adult learners with an enthusiasm for digital photography and who want to learn the basics about composition, using a digital camera, filters, settings, shooting modes and some basic photo manipulation techniques.
How long does it take to complete?
This course is delivered over 10 weeks in Term 3. The start date is Wednesday 19th April 2017 until Wed 28th June 2017. Each session will start at 6pm and finish at 9pm.
What qualifications do I need?
No previous qualifications are required; just an interest and enthusiasm for digital photography.
What does it include?
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
You will have access to a specialist photography studio, an Apple Mac suite and printing facilities. The course will be delivered by a specialist member of teaching staff.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Learners will be required to print their work either from our printing bureau at an extra cost or at home. Learners will also require a USB memory stick to store their work. Learners may wish to bring their own digital cameras.
How is the programme assessed?
This programme is assessed through practical studio work, sketchbook work and written evaluation.

L1 Award in Exploring Occupational Studies: Exploring Digital Photography
What can I do next?
Learners can progress onto a L2 Award in Digital Photography and Mid Cheshire College offers a Foundation Degree in Contemporary Photography as a progression pathway from the L2 course.
