What is the programme structure?
The course will run for 1 evening per week on a Tuesday at the Winsford Campus over an academic year (September – June)
All elements of the course are internally assessed. Assessment methods will include;
• Observation in practice
• Witness evidence
• Professional discussion
• Reflection on own practice in real work situations
• Written assignments
Who is the programme for?
The Level 3 Certificate is suitable for learners working in senior roles that support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary or special schools.
How long does it take to complete?
1 academic year (September to June)
What qualifications do I need?
Learners should be at least 16 years of age and will need to have completed the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
You will also need to be working (paid or unpaid) for at least two days per week in your setting, supporting the teacher and pupils in the classroom.
As this is an assessment-based qualification, you will be assessed in the workplace through direct observation and with a portfolio of work-based evidence. You will therefore need to be in a role in your placement which meets the assessment requirements; you will also need a supervisor/mentor who will be able to support you with your continuing professional development records.

You will achieve a CACHE L3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
What can I do next?
Upon completion of this qualification learners may be eligible to apply for Higher Education such as the Foundation Degree in Supporting Teaching and Learning. Learners may also apply for job roles including;
• Senior teaching assistants
• Senior learning support assistants
• Senior special educational needs assistant
