What is the programme structure?
The programme struction includes a range of units of study. Four mandatory units are:- Use materials, tools and equipment to develop craft techniques. Investiaget creative enterprise and employment opportunities. Develop craft ideas. Create, presnet and evaluate a final craft item.
Who is the programme for?
This course is aimed at adult learners who are interested in ceramics and is suitable for beginners or those with more experience.
How long does it take to complete?
The course is over Spring and Summer Terms 2017. 20th January until 16th June and is on Friday 9.10 until 4.30pm. You will then have an opportunity to apply for a higher level course.
What qualifications do I need?
You need no formal qualifications to do this course.
What does it include?
You will learn and develop creative ceramic skills in earthenware and stoneware clays. This will involve a numbers of projects using a range of skills including hand-building, throwing on the potters wheel, reduction firing, raku firing, smoke firing, earthenware and stoneware firing.
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
The Specialist facilities will include access to the full range of materials, equipment, rooms, tools and equipment. You will work with the specialist tutor, who is experienced in the full range of ceramic disciplines. You will also have access to the artist in residence, who is a specialist in ceramics.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
The course costs £382 plus £30 materials cost.
How is the programme assessed?
This programme is assessed through practical studio work, samples, sketchbook work and written evaluation.
What award will I achieve?
L2 Certificate in Creative Crafts
The examining body is NCFE.
What can I do next?
On completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to continue further on a range of higher level courses.
