What is the programme structure?

In addition to academic study all learners must complete a minimum of 750 hours work experience in appropriate childcare settings.

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)is equivalent to 3 A levels/360 UCAS points

This Programme enables learners with a keen interest in children’s care, learning and development to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or to access Higher Education.

What qualifications do I need?

5 GCSEs grades A* - C or grades 9 – 4 or equivalent, including GCSE English Language or BTEC Extended Diploma or appropriate NVQ/VRQ/VTVT Level 2 or another relevant Level 2 or intermediate qualification. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.

What does it include?

This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment. The content of the Study Programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study. The key theme of Study Programme at Level 3 will be the development of personal, social and enterprise skills to enable progression to higher levels of study or employment. As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills in English or Maths plus English and Maths development as part of the core qualification. Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education.

Are there any special facilities for the programme?
Work placement in a variety of childcare settings. You are required to complete a minimum of 750 hours work experience in appropriate childcare settings.

Will there be any extra costs involved?

You will need to purchase text books (£25). The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check also requires payment (£44).

How is the programme assessed?
A combination of internally assessed work and some externally assessed tasks.

Upon achievement of the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. Practitioner in day nurseries, practitioner in nursery schools, and practitioner in reception classes in primary schools, pre-school worker, nanny, and home based childcare or teaching assistant
