What is the programme structure?

Develop basic skills in communication and literacy, working with numbers and Information Technology. Experience different vocational areas and develop appropriate life skills through practical activities. Students work in small groups with individual support, where appropriate specialist support is available and includes, communicators, specialist recources, physical assistance and Dyslexia specialists.

The course is for young people who are not sure of their career choice, would like to try a range of vocational options and need extra support.

What qualifications do I need?

Entry level courses are for those who have gained no formal qualifications at school or for other reasons do not meet the requirements of a level 1 course and also require further career guidance to try a range of options with extra support.

What does it include?

This course will be based in several vocational areas which will include art and design, catering, travel and tourism, performing arts, IT and Business Studies. In addition, students will complete functional skills qualification in English and Maths.

Access to specialist vocational areas if applicable.

Will there be any extra costs involved?

Visits are an integral part of the course and may need extra costs. Students will be notified in advance of any planned visits.

Coursework is assessed throughout the course by means of assignments and projects leading to the Diploma in Vocational Studies Entry Level 3.

Staff and students have regular contact with the careers service. On completing this Entry Level 3 course students may wish to access a Level 1 course of their choice (subject to the entry requirements) and supporting awards.
