What is the programme structure?
The course comprises 10 units of which 4 units help to develop student's key skills in organisation, working with others, researching topics and developing progress plans. The other 6 units are subject specific and allow students to explore projects in art and design, performing arts and digital media. Throughout the course students will learn how to create an art image, develop a moodboard, create an animation, shoot a short film, devise and rehearse for a performance.

This is a study programme for learners with a keen interest in the Creative Arts who wish to develop key skills as well as subject specific knowledge, understanding and practical skills.

The course is 1 academic year in duration

2 GCSEs at grade E - G or an Entry Level qualification
What does it include?
This course is part of a study programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further education or employment.
The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.
As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.
Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activity which will include work experience and potentially live projects.
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
Students study in specialist Mac suites, art workshops and a state of the art theatre.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Students will be required to pay for trips. Some specialist equipment and materials will be provided by the college but students will be encouraged to purchase their own basic materials such as pencils and sketchbooks. Starter packs are available through the college shop.
How is the programme assessed?
Assessment is by project based portfolio work that is internally assessed
