What is the programme structure?
The programme consists of a number of units in aspects of Engineering.
This is a theory based course with some practical work, which covers the following areas: Applied science and maths; the engineering world; engineering processes and techniques; computer aided design (CAD) fundamentals; engineering materials; electronic circuit construction and testing.
Who is the programme for?
The programme is for school leavers wanting to gain qualifications in Engineering and are interested in gaining an apprenticeship in engineering or going to study at Level 3.

4 GCSEs at grade D or above or equivalent.
What does it include?
This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment.
The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.
The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 2 will be the development of occupational skills in a selected vocational area and the development of personal, social and employability skills with a view to raising aspirations.
As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.
Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activity which may include work experience and projects.
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
The College has specialist mechanical and electrical workshops, comprehensive computing facilities and well equipped laboratories.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
There may be additional costs for textbooks, safety boots, and overalls, there will also be a £20 cost for trips
How is the programme assessed?
This will be through projects, assignments, practical work, individual and group work and written and oral presentations. Final assessment will be based on a portfolio of work, which you will produce over the year.

What can I do next?
On successful completion of this programme, you will be qualified to progress on to the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering, an Apprenticeship or employment within the engineering sector.
