Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Fashion
What is the programme structure?
This eight unit course is designed to help you to build a portfolio of fashion design work to prepare you for application to BTEC Extended Diploma Fashion (Level 3).
You will study designers, fashion illustration and the history of fashion.
Who is the programme for?
Students who have a strong interest in fashion and want to progress to Full level three courses, like the Extended Diploma in Art & Design (Fashion) or are aiming to work professionally within the fashion industry.

4 GCSEs Grade D or above or equivalent. You will also need to present a satisfactory portfolio.
What does it include?
This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment.
The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study.
The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 2 will be the development of occupational skills in a selected vocational area and the development of personal, social and employability skills with a view to raising aspirations.
As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills English or Maths plus English and maths development as part of the core qualification.
Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activity which may include work experience and projects.
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
The workshop is equipped with an excellent range of industrial equipment and supported by technical staff
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Some specialist consumable items are supplied within the department however you may wish to purchase art materials, calico, sketchbooks and other materials. A starter pack may be available within your course area which you may wish to purchase as this will give you your own set of supplies. Optional educational visits are charged at cost as and when they arise, your Course Leader will inform you of these.
How is the programme assessed?
You will undertake practical work, independent assignments, lectures and written evaluations. Assessments are continuous with tutorial support. Some written work is required throughout all units. Learning takes place through practical work, visits and frequent reviews.

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to progress on to a BTEC Extended Diploma in Fashion.
