NVQ Diploma in Nail Services (Level 3)
What is the programme structure?
The tutor will go through the structure of the course in the first session.
Who is the programme for?
This programme is aimed towards students, who have ideally completed a VRQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy or certificate in manicure. Interpersonal skills, a good knowledge of anatomy and physiology and be able to prove a high level of practical competence in specified procedures. Students must be totally committed and be prepared to learn at a fast pace. Due to the level of this course, selection will be by interview and references from previous tutor.

1 academic year.
What qualifications do I need?
Entry is dependent on VRQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or Manicure/Pedicure Certificate.
What does it include?
This programme will cover:
• Health and safety
• Promote additional products and services to clients
• Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
• Enhance the appearance of natural nails using artificial nail systems (Acrylic, Gel & Wraps)
• Maintain, repair and enhance artificial nail structures
• Plan, design and provide nail art services to clients
• Provide self-tanning treatments
Are there any special facilities for the programme?
The special facilities will include health and beauty salons, fitted with up to date equipment, which are open to the public from October to May. They provide a realistic working environment for the learner.
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Students will need to purchase a uniform and flat, black, enclosed shoes along with additional kit equipment. This will be discussed with a tutor at interview who will be able to guide you with the costs. There are also educational visits throughout the year.
How is the programme assessed?
This programme will be assessed by formal written examinations, practical observation and written assignments. Students will be expected to introduce new clients to the salon in order to help with practical assessments.Several hours of homework (practical & written) are required per week.

What can I do next?
Students may enter employment in salons, cruise liners or self-employment.
