Students create performances to celebrate local salt heritage

Students have been getting to grips with Northwich’s salty history.

Performing Arts students from the College’s Hartford campus have collaborated with Saltscape on their Animate! project to create an original piece of dance, drama and music that celebrates the area’s unique salt heritage and community.

The Level 3 and HND Performing Arts students were inspired by photographs, the landscape, nature and the stories of local people to create a collection of responses that draw on the salt stories surrounding Northwich.

The students took part in a total of 6 sessions to reach the completed performance which looks at the relationship of young people and the heritage of the salt industry.

You can see the students performing Animate! The Salt Sessions at the Lion Salt Works at their free family fun day “Supersalt Saturday” 18 March at 2.15pm and Thursday 23 March at 3.30pm.
